Full Description
Site of a chapel. In 1725 there was a ruined chapel at Chapelton, which, according to Simpson (1944), had been associated with the Castle of Esslemont. The site lay in the 'Haly fald' or Holy Field, but the chapel and graveyard were removed circa 1820 and nothing remained by 1867. Site visit by RCAHMS 1997 found no trace of either the building or the burial ground.
