Full Description
Site of churches. Two pre-Reformation churches with burial grounds stood in Belhelvie parish. The New Statistical Account (1845) recorded that some small silver coins have been found in the foundations of one of them. OS in 1967 found no further information. One of the churches may refer to NJ91NW0006. The removal of two pre-reformation churches with burial-grounds mentioned in the New Statistical Account for the parish of Belhelvie almost certainly refers to two of the three documented chapels that are known to have existed within the parish in addition to the Parish Church (NJ91NE0001). It is not known which of the three is meant, but those recorded are: Chapel Park, Belhelvie (NJ91NW0006), Hatton of Milden (NJ91NE0015) and Chapel Park, Ardo (NJ92SW0004).
