Full Description

Site of stone called King's Seat. The New Statistical Account (1845) records a stone in the courtyard of the farm at Kingseat on which tradition says that King Malcolm Canmore sat while drinking water from a well (NJ91NW0018). The original position of the stone known as the Kingseat is depicted on the OS 1st edition map on the summit of a low rise immediately north of Kingseat farmstead (NJ91NW0170). The steading is now disused and has been partly demolished, and the area in which the stone was located has been disturbed by quarrying and the construction of tracks. There is now no trace of King Seat.
