Full Description
Excavation of a cropmark feature showed it to be of natural origin. Examination of vertical air photograph BKS NO99E 1485 062 revealed a broad circular cropmark (thought to possibly represent a prehistoric enclosure) in the field adjacent to Moss-side farm. As seen on the photograph, the cropmark had a diameter of approximately 100m, defined by a trace approximately 9m wide. Various minor circular and curvilinear marks were also visible within the circle. Excavations carried out by GUARD in August 1993 showed that this feature was the product of differential drainage caused by natural glacial deposits.
