Full Description

A walkover survey was carried out by Aberdeen City Council Archaeological Unit in September 2010 ahead creation of an attenuation pond, and a watching brief carried out during the groundworks for the pond, access tracks, and drainage channels. Six features were identified: two gullies, one up to 1m wide which followed the site boundary for 60m, extending to the southwest beyond the pond area, and one up to 2m wide running for 45m. In the northwest part of the area. These appeared to run to a stone arched culvert carrying this drainage water under the railway. Remains of a concrete post and wire fence probably formed part of the boundary to the railway. To the east and southeast of the attenuation pond area was a surviving area of drystone wall, in varying states of decay, but which has since been removed. A watching brief during subsequent topsoil stripping for the pond area, drainage and access track widening recorded no further archaeological features.
