Full Description

Farmstead still in use. It is depicted on the 1st edition OS map as two rectangular steadings forming an L-shape open to the southeast around a rectangular walled enclosure. To the north lies another steading and a small farmhouse, while to the northeast are three lime kilns. On the 2nd edition, the walled enclosure is not depicted but the north wing is shown with a horse-mill attached to its south face while the west wing has a small enclosure attached to its west face. The small farmhouse has been removed, and only 1 of the limekilns is depicted annotated as an 'Old Limekiln'. The original steadings appear to survive with the exception of the steading to the north of the perpendicular pair. Seven new buildings have been added to the site in the central and eastern areas. A farmstead of Achnascra is shown on an estate map of 1761.
