Full Description

A programme of archaeological work was carried out by Headland Archaeology ahead of the development of the Hilton Campus. Following a desk-based assessment and walkover survey, trial trenching evaluation was undertaken in March 2006 in the area of the former sports field in the southeast part of the development site. Three trenches were excavated but no archaeological features or artefacts. This confirmed the conclusion from the earlier assessment and walkover survey that it was likely that the area of the Campus had been extensively altered and terraced during construction of the college buildings.
