Full Description

Trial trenching evaluation was carried out by MAS in July 2009 ahead of new school refurbishment. Six trenches were excavated, revealing considerable evidence for pottery and brick production, including pottery kilns (See NJ90NW0829), kiln furniture, parts of cobbled yards, paths and working surfaces, and kiln waste. The excavation also recorded World War II remains, evidence of a number of structures visible on an aerial photograph taken in 1947.
