Full Description
Excavation was carried out by Aberdeen City Council Archaeological Unit in July to September 2008. Deep stratified deposits were encountered at the southwest end of the site. Features excavated included medieval wooden drains and working platforms, which probably represent the draining and reclamation of this waterlogged area close to the harbour. Some 19th and early 20th century walls and courtyards were also excavated and recorded. On the east side of the site features included a pit filled with daub and charcoal. See also NJ90NW0922.
