Full Description
Locomotive sheds and goods handling facilities were also at this site. The style of this signal box is one of the earlier designed by Great North of Scotland Railway. It had a substantial granite base up to the cabin floor level, supporting a wooden superstructure. The sides were fully glazed, and the hipped roof had overhanging eaves. The signal box was very high, providing excellent visibility across the sheds and depot.
Kittybrewster was one of the original stations on the Great North of Scotland railway when it opened in 1854. However the construction date for the signal box has been recorded, in the 'Register of Scottish Signal boxes', as 1883. Kittybrewster was the point where the Great North of Scotland Railway's branch to Waterloo Station left the main Aberdeen-Keith main line.
