Full Description
A field system and stone clearance heaps. Several small fields are delimited by low field banks and lynchets. No hut-circle is visible but there is a possible one visible as turf-covered footings, in the field to the north. At NJ 2361 2389 the remains of a later rectilinear sheepfold with turf-covered remains of a circular enclosure lying adjacent to its southwest, lies within the field system. The site was in part within the area of a walkover survey (NJ22SW0147) carried out in 2021 by S Farrell ahead of proposed woodland creation. Features recorded within the proposed planting area included: a possible hut circle at NJ2348623997, circa 7m in diameter within a slight bank; a cairn to the east measuring 2m in diameter and 0.5m high. To the south are remains of a field system comprising at least 18 cairns, all grass covered and measuring 3-4m in diameter and up to 0.5m high, with possible field plots 15m by 15m, represented by low banks. It was noted that to the northeast, within the area of improved fields, little was evident of the field system.
