Full Description
Site of a small farmstead depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition shows a long building of three compartments. This had been extended to an L-plan by the time of the 2nd edition map and another building added to the north side of the west end. It was disused at the time of RCAHMS site visit in 2002, the windows and doors boarded. The paddock or garden to the south have been built on. Building survey was carried out by ACC Archaeology Unit (A Cameron) in 2008 prior to demolition. This may have been an 18th century farmstead, part of the lands of Summerhill. Two phases of building were recorded, with the cottage probably being a later (19th century) addition to an agricultural building which originally had living accommodation to the west (removed when the electricity substation was built). The agricultural buildings were roofed with pantiles and were among the last of this type remaining in Aberdeen.
