Full Description

Excavation by Aberdeen City Council Archaeological Unit in 1979 recorded posts, a stone L-plan foundation and other medieval and post-medieval features. The excavation revealed that in the 13th to 14th-century period, sand and clay layers were associated with the remains of wooden posts and other timbers. At a slightly later date (possibly into the 15th century) an 'L'-shaped stone foundation may have been the base for a timber superstructure. An overlying cobbled surface was dated to the 16th to 18th-century period. The finds from this site are in the collections of Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums.
