Full Description
Site of a possible motte. A mound is shown on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. It was recorded by OS in 1952 as a large, tree-covered and possibly artificial mound, flat-topped, 35m in diameter, and 5m high. RCAHMS site visit 1997 recorded that nothing was then visible. It may have been a medieval motte, an early medieval castle mound, as it stood in a prominent position overlooking the river Don.
