Full Description
A trial trenching evaluation was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in February 2017 ahead of development of a storage compound (North Compound) for Aberdeen Harbour developments. A total of 13 trenches were excavated. Rig and furrow was recorded in the north corner if the site. A small section of wall probably related to barns and byres shown on the OS 1st edition map (NJ90NE0263). A subsequent watching brief was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in July 2019 on part of the compound area, in which a building is shown on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. Part of the this area had been stripped of topsoil and covered in gravel prior to monitoring. No archaeological features or artefacts were observed.
