Full Description
Site of a house depicted on the OS 2nd edition map. The 1891 census records a family named Whyte in residence at Castle Folly, the house itself noted as having 16 windows. An 1895 Valuation Roll lists 'Castle Jolly' in New Byth, a house and shop of William Whyte, shoemaker. The property was up for sale in 1899 as a dwelling, shoemaker's shop and large garden. The road was renamed Urquhart Road some time after 1900, and Fishtown is now part of New Byth (see also NJ85SW0132).
