Full Description

A watching brief was maintained by MAS in September 2011 during the soil strip for the access track and turbine base of a new wind turbine. The track was 4m wide and 86m long and the turbine base and area of hard standing measured 37m by 48m. No archaeological features or finds were evident. A second watching brief was carried out on 26th May 2020 by AOC Archaeology during the topsoil strip for the second wind turbine at Greenhill, located to the northeast of the first turbine. The areas for the turbine footprint, access road and borrow pit were monitored. Plough and subsoil marks were evident throughout all stripped areas, orientated northeast-southwest. No archaeologically significant features or small finds were uncovered during the works.
