Full Description

A watching brief was carried out by Murray Archaeological Services in March 2009 over the excavation of access trackways and the footprints of wind turbines for a proposed wind farm at Hill of Skelmonae, Methlick. The archaeological brief required that only portions of the access trackways and all of the turbine footprints be observed during the topsoil strip. Although the main north-south access track and footprint of Turbine 3 lay in close proximity to areas of rig and furrow cultivation, no sign of these extending into the stripped area was evident. No archaeological features or finds were observed during the watching brief.
