Full Description
A trial trenching evaluation was carried out by Murray Archaeological Services in September - October 2020 ahead of proposed development. Eight trenches were excavated on plots 12-15, most to east and west of the farm (NJ82NW0111). No archaeological features were identified west or east of the farm buildings. Trench 1, within the curve of the kennels, revealed a shallow hollow 0.5m deep and 6m in diameter, the base lined with black bitumen, identified as the circular water feature shown on the OS 1st edition map.
