Full Description

An evaluation was carried out at this site by MAS in March 2010 in advance of a proposed development. In total, eight trenches were excavated representing 7 percent of the development area. The north end of the site yielded traces of rig and furrow cultivation, and the foundation for a 19th century railtrack was exposed running east-west across the centre site. This railway line is depicted on early OS maps. A stony path lay along the south edge of the track, while the clay for the track base appears to have been dug from the ground beside it.
