Summary
A programme of archaeological investigation was carried out by CFA Archaeology between March and June 2017 for installation of new underground cable between Blackdog and Stoneyhill Wood, Aberdeenshire and refurbishment of overhead line between Stoneyhill Wood and Kintore Substation, Aberdeenshire (see also Aberdeenshire HER NJ91SE0096 and NJ71SE0143) Desk based assessment (2016) was followed by walkover survey along the route, site demarcation and watching briefs.

Full Description
A programme of archaeological investigation was carried out by CFA Archaeology between March and June 2017 for installation of new underground cable between Blackdog and Stoneyhill Wood, Aberdeenshire and refurbishment of overhead line between Stoneyhill Wood and Kintore Substation, Aberdeenshire (see also Aberdeenshire HER NJ91SE0096 and NJ71SE0143) Desk based assessment (2016) was followed by walkover survey along the route, site demarcation and watching briefs. Investigations on the cable route included the cable route wayleave and access to it. A number of features were recorded along the cable route during field survey (see NJ91SW0525, NJ91SW0527, NJ91SW0529) and during subsequent watching briefs during groundworks (see NJ91SE0187, NJ91SW0517, NJ91SW0519, NJ91SW0521, NJ91SW0523).
