Full Description

A sub-oval pit recorded in trial trenching by Headland Archaeology in 2013 (see NJ81SE0641) ahead of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route. The only material recovered during sample processing was rare amounts of charcoal. Adjacent to the pit was a linear cut feature, probably the terminus of a shallow ditch. Further excavation was carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2014. No further archaeological features were recorded, The linear feature and pit previously recorded were interpreted as an animal burrow and stone-hole respectively.
