Full Description

Three small dispersed pits were recorded in trial trenching by Headland Archaeology in 2013 (see NJ81SE0641) ahead of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route. Charcoal from one (in Trench NL0192) was radicarbon dated to 406-541 cal AD. The other two contained no dateable material. Further excavation was carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2014. Only two cut features were found, a linear gully and an irregular pit, both undated. A small area of medieval or post-medieval rig and furrow and an intensive system of field drainage were also uncovered.
