Full Description
Approximate site of an Admiralty Wireless Station. It was a transmitting and receiving site before World War I and closed before 1930, although its exact location is unclear, likely at or near the southern end of the runway at Dyce. A proposal to erect a wireless telegraphy station at Stoneywood was reported in the Press and Journal of 20 April 1908, and an article in the Press and Journal of August 1914 noted arrangements being made to secure the safety of the station. The sale of the former W/T station at Stoneywood was reported in the Press and Journal of 4 June 1930, the sale to include dwelling houses and two brick built and slated buildings. Valuation rolls record the Admiralty to be tenants of a number of houses in Foresters Avenue in 1915, 1920 and 1925.
