Full Description
Five heavily truncated pits or posthole features recorded in trial trenching evaluation (NJ81SE0621) by Cameron Archaeology in May 2018 in advance of residential development. The features were revealed in three trenches in the west central area of the evaluation. A single prehistoric flint scraper/blade was recovered from one of the features. Four samples were taken for environmental and finds assessment, but these yielded only limited evidence. One pit yielded some plant remains and a fragment of brick or tile, this suggesting recent disturbance. A second pit produced an iron nail, of uncertain date. The features appear to be post-medieval or modern in date.
