Full Description
Site of a farmstead which is depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition shows a U-plan steading open to the east, with a small L-plan building on the east side of the court. To the west is a mill pond with a lade leading to the south side of the steading. By the time of the 2nd edition the L-plan building had been removed and a new rectangular building (cottage) added to the east. Further buildings have since been added to east and west, some occupying the site of the farmstead of Woodside of Craibstone (NJ81SE0341) shown on historic OS maps. A standing building survey was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in December 2017 ahead of proposed development. Only the farmhouse and southwest and northwest walls of the steading as shown on the 1st edition map remains. The buildings have more recently been used by the Rowett Institute.
