Full Description

Pits and stake hole recorded during trial trenching by Headland Archaeology in 2013 ahead of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (NJ81SE0076). A small circular cut in Trench NL0682 contained a small abraded body sherd of prehistoric pottery close to the surface. It is likely this feature was a stake hole. Two pits in Trenches NL0694 and NL0695 may have been of natural origin. An isolated pit in Trench NL0699 measured 0.38m by 0.85m by 0.19m, contained modern ceramic pottery. Further excavation was carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2014. Ten negative features were recorded, all natural or of post-medieval date.
