Full Description

Pit recorded during trial trenching by Headland Archaeology in 2013 ahead of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (NJ81SE0076).It was probably subcircular, measuring 1.4m long and 0.35m deep containing occasional charcoal, coal and cinders. Small fragments of slag and a C-shaped iron object were recovered. Further excavation was carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2014. A total of 46 features were recorded, all interpreted as natural or of post medieval date. Post-medieval furrows were also recorded.
