Full Description
Site of a manor/barony. See NJ80SW0015 for present Kennerty House. The barony belonged at one time to the Gordons and at other periods to the Irvines of Drum, although the site of its ‘caput’ (chief seat) is now unknown. However in 1794 the Rev George Mark recorded that ‘the ancient seat of the barons... was situated at the top of a small eminence, at the extremity of the higher ground’ and it is possible that the ‘small eminence’ should be recognised as a motte. Exact site not located.
