Full Description
A trial trenching evaluation was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in February to March 2012 ahead of proposed development,. A total of 67 trenches and 2 trial pits were excavated (7.28 percent of the development area). Over 500 field drains and other features relating to 19th-20th century agricultural use were recorded, but no other features of archaeological significance. The finds, including a clay pipe and a cow neck chain, were all of probable 19th - 20th century date. Absence of earlier features may be due to disturbance relating to laying of the field drains and the use of the area as a commercial nursery during the last 150 years.
