Summary
A trial trenching evaluation was carried out by MAS in 2013 across four fields between the South Deeside Road as prior to proposed housing development as the first phase of an evaluation which also included as area of 7 fields south of the Deeside Road (see NJ80SE0054).

Full Description
A trial trenching evaluation was carried out by MAS in 2013 across four fields between the South Deeside Road as prior to proposed housing development as the first phase of an evaluation which also included as area of 7 fields south of the Deeside Road (see NJ80SE0054). A total of 24 trenches were excavated in this northern area, an area which has been in cultivation since at least 1830. On the lower ground there was evidence of frequent changes in the river channel, and frequent silting and flooding. No archaeological features or artefacts were recorded during the investigations.
