Full Description

Site of short cists. Four short cists were found by workmen while excavating an embankment for sand in 1871. The first cist, oriented north-south, contained a skeleton lying on right side, with fragments of a possible small food vessel, in corner in front of skull. The floor of the cist was paved with pebbles from the river. One of the other three cists contained a skull and femur and a small beaker/ food vessel ( in AAUM). Cinerary urns were found embedded in the sand near the cists. Also found was a small half-globular bronze vessel, though much decayed sufficient remained to show original size as 63mm diameter by 25mm high.
