Summary
Following geophysical survey in 2012, a programme of trial trenching was carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2013 ahead of the new Western Peripheral road, following on from geophysical survey which identified a number of anomalies.

Full Description
Following geophysical survey in 2012, a programme of trial trenching was carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2013 ahead of the new Western Peripheral road, following on from geophysical survey which identified a number of anomalies. Most of the anomalies were concluded to be geological in origin and no archaeological features were recorded in the trenches in this section of the road line. A watching brief in 2007 on test pitting along the AWPR route recorded no archaeological features.
