Full Description

A trial trenching evaluation was carried out by AOC in February 2012 ahead of a proposed supermarket development. The site was formerly occupied by an annex to Woodend General Hospital, as shown on the OS 1:25,000 map published 1957, although these buildings were demolished sometime before 1990. A total of 13 trenches were excavated but no features or artefacts of archaeological significance were recorded.
