Seven pits or post-holes, three curvilinear ditches and one linear ditch excavated by CFA in 2019 during a watching brief within the cable route corridor for the Moray East Offshore Wind Farm (NJ66SE0330). These features most likely form part of an enclosure ditch and associated activity, but the site has been truncated by ploughing. Four of the pits were circular or rounded in plan, two were oval, varying from 0.7-0.4 m by 0.05-0.21 m deep, with fills containing a varying mix of small to large stones, angular stones and charcoal. An irregular shaped pit 1.15 m by 1.1 m by 0.14 m deep, had a fill containing charcoal and 83 fragments of slag and is evidence of iron working on site. The largest of the curvilinear ditches measured 25 m by 0.5 m by 0.05 m deep with a fill containing four sherds of prehistoric pottery, one a body sherd with faint incised grooves, another a base or carinated shoulder, both likely earlier prehistoric in date. The other two smaller sections of curvilinear ditches were a continuation of the same ditch.
