Full Description
Site of a chapel associated with King Edward Castle. It lay near an old ford on low ground still called 'Chapel Haugh'. A slight swelling in ground lies in the approximate location of foundations which were exposed by plough in 1948. The chapel well is believed to be at NJ7229 5626 which is a small waterlogged spot on slope. Many slate-like slabs, used as paving round Castleton Farmhouse, came from chapel area which may possibly indicate that there was a cemetery attached to chapel.
