Full Description
Site of barony. During the reign of Alexander III (1249-1286) the barony of Seggat was valued at 15 merks. It is not known where the caput of the barony lay, but it was probably on or near the site of the existing farm of that name. Although the lands of Seggat belonged to the Laird of Towie in 1696, forty-two years earlier Straloch had indicated Seggat to be 'a Gentleman's Seat'.
