Full Description
Site of well, the Physic Well (Chalybeate), which is depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. The OS Name Book (1895) stated that it was famed for its medicinal qualities. OS noted that a spring issuing out from slope some 6m northeast of published position is probably water draining from higher part of town (NJ 7229 4971). The spring and the site of the well now buried under heap of slag from old gas-works.
