It was founded in the 14th century (according to the OS Name Book in 1376 by Adam Pungil, a burgess of Aberdeen: and Bishop Petrie of the Diocese of Moray had a college with a church here in the mid 18th century). All traces of the building were removed in the early 19th century. Nothing is now visible of the chapel. The site sits in a cultivated field.
