Full Description

Site of cairns, described as lying near each other on the brow of the hill, which were opened in 1864. One was a flat cairn surrounded by a ditch, and contained a central cist in which was a cremation. The second cairn (NJ73583939) was surrounded by boulders. A cist found near the centre contained bones, urn, beads of a jet necklace and charred wood. Site visit by CFA Archaeology in 2012 ahead of proposed overhead line work confirmed that there are no upstanding remains.
