Full Description
Site of stone circle. The site of a stone circle is depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. It was described in 1868 as a flat cairn which 'had been surrounded by a circle of pretty large stones of which a few remained' (Stuart). He opened it but found nothing except fragments of burnt matter and bones in the centre. Coles in 1903 recorded it as recently destroyed, comprising a circular area traversed by five strips of broken up stones presumably to be carted away. Site visit by CFA Archaeology in 2012 ahead of proposed overhead line work confirmed that there are no upstanding remains.
