Full Description
Site of a stone circle as shown on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. The circular setting of stones, 1.2 - 1.8m high, was removed in 1822. Two in situ erratics and one pillar stone were revealed in topsoil stripping 14 November 1980 but their attribution is still uncertain. The pillar stone may indicate that this was a recumbent stone circle, as the term pillar stone, also used by Coles, is a 19th century term for a 'flanker'.
