Full Description

A watching brief was carried out in August-September 2017 by CFA Archaeology during groundworks for upgrading of the Waste Water Treatment Works. A number of sherds of post-medieval redware pottery were recovered from a subsoil deposit overlying the natural river sands and gravels, from a variety of different vessels and included one base fragment and two glazed sherds. They are thought to represent residual activity within the general area rather than indicating the presence of post-medieval settlement on the flood plain. No other features or artefacts were recorded.
