Full Description
Trial trenching evaluation in advance of development revealed a ring-ditch, three other undated ditches (at the southern end of the site) and evidence of post-medieval cultivation (across the whole site). The ring-ditch, located at NJ 780 223, was over 7 m externally and circa 5 m internal diameter and had a break in the south, possibly an entrance. The fill of the ditch contained fragments of prehistoric pottery, probably Bronze Age. The undated ditches were straight and ran east-west. The remains of furrows from rig and furrow were also discovered. An abraded circular stone object discovered within one of these features is possibly a post-medieval gaming token.
