Full Description
Site of probable field clearance heaps. The OS Name Book (1866) noted that the ground in the wood was covered with small cairns or mounds of stone. OS in 1964 recorded that the only mounds of stones now in the area are the result of recent clearing of the wood. The field centred at NJ762206 is now under pasture and the area centred at NJ762208 forms part of the golf course. RCAHMS site visit 1996 noted that no small cairns could be seen on Corsman Hill.
ORDNANCE SURVEY, 1871, Ordnance Name Book, No42(1866) 31 (Bibliographic reference). SAB1360.
