Full Description

Site of a manor. It was reported in 1724 that 'the House of Saphock, belonging to Irvine of Saphock, is east of the church one mile'. In the following year, Alexander Irvine of Saphock had a Barony of Saphock and other lands, which he had recently purchased, erected into the Barony of Irvine. A possession in 1696 of Burnett of Lethenty, Saphock seems to have belonged in the mid 16th Century to Provost Gilbert Gray. A watching brief in 2006 to the north of the farmhouse (NJ72NE0125) recorded no archaeological features.
