Full Description
A trial trenching evaluation was carried out by MAS in June 2014 ahead of proposed extension (Area 1) to the industrial estate. A total of seven trenches were excavated across the site but no evidence of prehistoric or medieval activity in the area was recorded. The evidence suggests that prior to drainage in the 19th and 20th centuries this area would have comprised pools and boggy patches with seasonal drainage streams into the Tuach Burn. The large number of stone drains and more recent clay drains uncovered indicate the wet nature of the ground.
