Full Description

House and outbuildings depicted on historic OS maps, then named Renatton. The 1st edition shows the house with a second rectangular building set at right angles at its east end and a garden enclosure on the east. To the southwest is a kennel and to the east a small building with attached enclosure. By the time of the 2nd edition map the small building to the east had been removed although the enclosure is still shown. The building at the east end of the house has since been removed and another small structure added to the southeast. The kennels have also been removed. The house is of early to mid 18th century date, 2-storey and 3-bay with low single storey 2-bay wing to right. The ancillary building to the south is steeply gabled, of granite rubble with a corrugated iron roof, raised skews and skewputt. It has a hearth with large granite jambs and a simple A-frame rood with tie-beams. The remains of a row of longhouses lie alongside the track northeast of the small farmstead but they are not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd edition OS maps.
