Full Description

A watching brief was carried out in 2012 by MAS during ground works for new buildings in the garden at the rear of Nos. 27-27A Castle Street (NJ66SE0333). Map evidence shows that the site was open ground prior to circa 1830, and although in close proximity to the 12th-13th century castle (NJ66SE0018) there was no evidence of activity or occupation in the medieval period. No archaeological features were identified during the ground works for the development.
