Full Description
Site of a well. The name Spitalmire is said to be a corruption of Hospital Mire, the name of a wet piece of land adjoining the well, now drained. This was supposed to have belonged to a hospital (NJ66SE0099) of the Knights Templars, although the actual site of the hospital cannot be ascertained. Now no trace of well and no further information regarding the hospital.
